There will always be controversies between a service provider and a UX Design manufacturer. One of them wants revolutionary features, which will make the phone more marketable and the other wants functionality. Even though both of these aspects are important, we can't neglect one over the other, and we have to find a balance. In order to do that, we need to see the problem from an overall view. A phone is about 3 things: voice, messaging and internet. These are the platforms that passed the test of time and proved both useful and beloved by the users.
Voice: In the past, a mobile phone had only one platform, voice. Even though Voice is considered obsolete by some developers, it remains a very popular platform, and it will remain like this for a long time. Still, the online apps allowed us to limit the Voice usage and to solve our problems with simpler methods. But we will always need the vocal communication for some personal and professional interactions. Messaging: SMS were very popular in the past, but today, there are other mobile apps to replace them. Still, the messaging platform will never disappear because it's the only messaging solution that isn't dependent on an internet connection. Internet: Mobile Internet has improved a lot in the past few years. Nowadays, we have better speed, an improved user experience and different apps, designed for a smooth web surfing. However, the low resolution of a phone is problematic, and many users are navigating on their phone, as a secondary option. But, the mobile connectivity is essential for anyone, and the internet platform will always be useful for a phone.
